Mr Lyndon Jones was awarded a degree in medicine at the University of Dundee in 1987 and during his subsequent training posts in Scotland and the North West of England he gained considerable experience in general surgery. This included a two-year period spent at the Internationally renowned Christie Hospital in Manchester, training in surgery for complex cancers whilst doing clinical research into the biology of bowel cancer.
Mr Jones specialises in both colorectal and breast surgery. In both these areas he works within multidisciplinary teams that include specialists in radiology, pathology, chemotherapy and specialist nurses, which helps in planning the best treatment for his patients.
As a keen teacher he is currently involved in the teaching and development of undergraduate students and postgraduate doctors within East Lancashire NHS Trust and is regularly invited to teach on national teaching courses for junior surgeons in training.
In his spare time Mr Jones enjoys the outdoors and is a keen golfer.
